I have a question for the Alabaster/Como Gray A2 experts... What was the original color of the legshield kederband (11.1400)? I know mine are original, and the color is a brown/red.

Was the original color gray, black or red? Or another color?

die zweifarbige Farbkombination wurde zunächst nur für den Holländischen Importeur hergestellt. Ein OEM-Auftrag würde man heute sagen. Da gibt es keine verlässliche Dokumentation über Keder und Sitzfarbe.

Erst beim 103A2 wurde zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt dies Farbkombination auch in Deutschland eingeführt.

Bei den Recherchen zu Farbe wurde keine verlässliche Dokumentation zur die Kederfarbe/Sitzfarbe seitens Heinkel gefunden. Die seinerzeitigen Werbebroschuren hatten wenig mit der Realität zu tun.

Du hast recht, mein A2 stammt aus den Niederlanden. Mein Freund John Gerber hat ihn während seines Aufenthalts in Europa gekauft und in den 1970er-Jahren in die USA mitgebracht.

Wenn ich meinen zweifarbigen grauen A2 mit den Bildern vieler anderer vergleiche, glaube ich, dass der (fast) weiße Sitz mit schwarzer Paspelierung original ist. Fast alle, die ich gesehen habe, sehen genauso aus. Ich habe auch eine Reserveradabdeckung in denselben Farben.

Ich denke, die Kederband des Beinschilds war grau, und die Verfärbung ist auf die Sonneneinstrahlung zurückzuführen. Die grauen Lenkergriffe verfärben sich oft ebenfalls rotbraun.

Normalerweise verwende ich für neue Sitzbezüge das gleiche Vinyl für die Kederband. Da mein Sitz (fast) weiß ist, werde ich wahrscheinlich keine weiße Paspelierung verwenden, sondern eine graue.

You are correct, my A2 came from the Netherlands. My friend John Gerber bought it while in Europe and brought it back to the USA in the 1970s.

Comparing my two tone gray A2 with the pictures of so many others, I believe the (near) white seat with black piping is original. Almost every one I have seen is the same. I have a spare tire cover with the same colors.

I think the legshield piping was gray and the discoloration is due to the sun. The gray handlebar collars often turn red/brown as well.

Generally when I make new seat covers, I make piping from the same vinyl. Since my seat was (near) white, I probably will not make white piping. Instead I will make it gray.
